It's been a bloody lovely weekend here at The Clubhouse so I figured I'd write about it.
Our dream of a social Saturday where creatives, film photography and jewellery enthusiasts alike can meet is really starting to come to life. We are open every Saturday from 11am - 5pm for anyone to call in and see what this community are space is all about.
This Saturday, along with surprise visits from a film crew and being part of an easter egg hunt we didn't have any eggs for, we hosted a members only darkroom printing workshop. Zach, Chris, Fred & Jamma came away with some amazing prints and I hope they had as much fun as I did experimenting with a 90s gameboy printer too.
In the afternoon I got to reveal a custom piece to it's owner after spending a lot of time working on it. It contains the smallest cheek feathers from some beloved budgies, along with a hand-stamped initial for each of their names, Mooney and Ikea. They loved it.
Later on we got a visit from our friend, Leeham the Wizard. We helped them take a few photos of their most recent piece in their self portrait series and had a nice long chat about art. Me and J are big fans of Leeham and encourage you to support your local wizard too. There are less and less magical taverns available nowadays for a wizard to turn tricks in because Rishi Sunak hates magic or something like that, so check out his wares here.
Sunday I hosted a jewellery making workshop for some VIP guests. I was pretty nervous for this one because I really wanted them to have fun and be proud of our little space. Luckily it was my mum and sister so of course they did. It was nice to be able to share my love of handmade jewellery with my mum who otherwise doesn't really bother with accessories. She was pretty darn good at it too! Steady hands run in the family I guess.
Sunday evening me and J got to work on our own bits, J recently got a Mamiya Press so he's been experimenting with the larger format and I've been playing around with some new silver smithing techniques. You may have seen my new fern necklaces around, they have been really fun to make and I'm already planning for more of this fossil-like silver style.
And that's it for this weekend! Already looking forward to the long bank holiday at The Clubhouse next weekend, if you're around on Saturday pop on by!
See you next time,
Laurel xx
